Supernatural draws from 1970’s science fiction film sets and mall interiors to present an apparition of architectural engagements with nature. A looped video of a revolving sculptural maquette is displayed in a stand reminiscent of information kiosks. Part sci-fi monolith and part shopping-mall planter, the maquette is hand-fabricated but appears very much like a CGI creation.
The sculptural structure is human-scaled and offers a friendly confrontation with the formal and often insidious constructs of commercial space and visual display. The forms are a nod to futuristic design elements that are both dated absorbed into present day design lexicon…
