Display, 2017, Varied edition of 9, C-print, 18″ x 24″
Commissioned by Ray~Ray, a collaborative project between Toronto-based artists Ella Dawn McGeough and Sarah Nasby.
Display references materials and forms common in jewelry display; an arrangement where one can imagine jewelry items resting. In this varied edition of 9 images, the illuminated bust changes colour but its surroundings remain identical. Through careful/exacting colour management and printing process, the print aims to convey the illusion of illumination.
Commissioned by Ray-Ray* and launched with ReBaie by Rebée’s** Fruit by the foot, edition, Display is composed of handmade and store-bought props. Absent of product, the images focus on the placement of props in the surrounding scene along with form, texture and colour. I was thinking about emotional effects of colour, how the different combinations affect the viewer.
ReBaie by Rebée and I produced our works in tandem, sharing a colour palette and display references and collaborating on promotional images.
